Predictive energy-efficient driving strategy design of connected electric vehicle among multiple signalized intersections

Signalized intersections dominate traffic flow in urban areas, resulting increased energy consumption and travel delay for the vehicles involved. To mitigate negative effect of lights on eco-driving control electric vehicles, a multi-intersections-based eco-approach departure strategy (M-EAD) is proposed to improve vehicle efficiency, throughput, battery life, while maintaining acceptable driving comfort. M-EAD two-stage scheme that includes efficient green signal window planning speed trajectory optimization. In upper stage, light formulated as shortest path problem, which solved using an A* algorithm reduction. lower optimization problem by resorting receding horizon framework, life losses are minimized iterative dynamic programming algorithm. Finally, Monte Carlo simulation with randomized parameters conducted evaluate performance strategy. The results show various advancements over two benchmark methods, constant isolated-intersection-based strategies terms time, stochastic scenarios. addition, actual road conditions validated on-road test.
